Located in the heart of historic Bath, Brooks Guesthouse is the ultimate chic, city bolt hole. It provides the perfect base from which to explore the city’s many attractions, such as The Roman Spa and the architectural gem that is the Royal Crescent.
It has two equally stylish sister guest houses – in Bristol and Edinburgh – and all three are owned by husband-and-wife team Carla and Andrew Brooks.
The interior of Brooks Bath is an eclectic mix of old and new; the period features of the elegant townhouse have been enhanced with modern yet classic fixtures and fittings, giving a stylish, contemporary feel. An honesty bar is open daily so that guests can make themselves a drink and relax in the comfortable lounge area. With its open log fire, the lounge is the perfect place to unwind with a glass of wine after a hard day’s sightseeing. There’s free internet access on a laptop in the lounge, and Wi-Fi internet access throughout the guesthouse.
Permits for on-street parking are available on a first-come, first-served basis and cost £6 per 24 hours. Alternatively, Charlotte Street car park is situated behind the Guest house and costs £9.50 for 24 hours, or free parking is available at Royal Victoria park, which is a five minute walk away.
Each of the bedrooms has its own unique and individual look; stunning wallpapers by Cole and Son provide striking accent colours, dictating the theme of each room. All of the rooms have beds with new, pocket sprung mattresses; quality cotton bed linen; fluffy bath sheets; flat screen TVs and DVD players; digital radios and iPod docking stations.
There are 21 bedrooms in total, ranging from family rooms to single rooms, and they all have en-suite bathrooms stocked with toiletries from The White Company. The rooms have been decorated to a very high standard and the newly-fitted, en-suite bathrooms feature travertine stone tiles and Italian designer fittings.
All of the rooms are non-smoking. Children and babies are welcome, and cots can be provided.
Room rates vary from £79 to £99 for a single to £99 to £150 for a double per night, depending on the time of year.
Given the huge variety and quality of the breakfast menu, it will come as no surprise to learn that the owners of the guesthouse, Carla and Andrew Brooks, are passionate foodies.
They have sourced the best local, organic and free range suppliers to offer guests a choice of full English breakfast; vegetarian breakfast; smoked salmon and scrambled eggs; French toast with crème fraiche and berries; Eggs Benedict, Eggs Royal or Eggs Florentine; homemade muesli or granola; and organic yoghurt and compotes. They also supply Fair Trade tea and coffee, and there’s a refrigerator for guests to use located by the breakfast room.
