Accommodation Information

Craigatin House and Courtyard is set in secluded wooded grounds in the Highland town of Pitlochry, Perthshire. The restaurants and attractions of Pitlochry are all just a short walk away from the house, which is at the heart of a naturally beautiful area famed for its clear air, stunning scenery, rich clan history and fine food.

From Highland safaris to the Pitlochry Dam, where you can watch salmon fight their way upstream to their spawning grounds, there’s plenty to see and do in Pitlochry. There’s a host of major events throughout the year, including the Enchanted Forest, the International Horse Trials and Highland Games. Perthshire also boasts a series of stunning castles, great golf courses and picturesque lochs, where visitors can take part in salmon fishing or watersports, or just soak up the scenery.

Property

Craigatin House is an early Victorian stone-built property that has been restored to a very high standard to provide quality boutique bed and breakfast accommodation. It has been given a Visit Scotland four-star gold award and won a Visit Scotland Scottish Thistle Award in 2012, as well as having won Trip Advisor’s ‘Traveller’s Choice Award’ in 2009, 2010 and 2012.

The interior is decorated and furnished in a sleek, modern style, and a stunning extension, built of wood and glass, at the rear of the property affords fabulous views of the surrounding countryside. It is here in this large, open plan dining and lounge area that guests enjoy breakfast, and are welcome to sit and relax by the wood burning stove. Private car parking is provided.

Rooms

There are 14 en suite bedrooms in all – 12 double and two twin – and they all have large, comfortable beds; free wireless internet access; large LCD televisions with Freeview; and DVD players. All of the rooms are decorated and furnished in a welcoming but unfussy, contemporary style, yet the owners of the property, Martin and Andrea Anderson, have given each one its own individual look with their clever use of bold accent colours and beautiful wallpapers.

There’s also a luxury suite available for those special occasions, which is equipped with a number of additional special finishing touches, including its own private sitting room, an espresso coffee machine, an iPod docking station, two large LCD TVs and a DVD player. All of the rooms are non-smoking. Prices range from £87 to £114 per night for two people, including breakfast.

Breakfast

Served in the newly-built dining and lounge area, breakfast is a veritable feast made from locally-sourced ingredients, with a buffet selection and a range of hot meal options. The buffet includes porridge, fruit, cereals, yoghurt and fruit juices. After that, guests can pick from a traditional Scottish breakfast; a choice of omelettes; apple pancakes with bacon and maple syrup; or various vegetarian options, including French toast with berries and apple pancakes with sultanas and honey. There’s also toast, butter and preserves, and a variety of different teas, coffee or hot chocolate. It’s a great way to start the day before heading off to explore the countryside!
