You get to stay in your own private, converted barn, where the master bedroom sits on a mezzanine above the spacious lounge with its plush sofas and wood burning stove. You also get your own dining area, surround sound entertainment system and a private outdoor area to enjoy when the weather is good.
Guests can stay on a self-catering or bed and breakfast basis; a luxury breakfast hamper is delivered for you to enjoy at your leisure if you opt for the latter.
Two superb gastropubs and a variety of restaurants are all less than a ten-minute drive away, and a driver is on hand to take you there, if required. This is one of a host of thoughtful services and finishing touches guaranteed to make your stay extra special. Fancy champagne on ice or flowers and chocolates waiting for you on arrival? No problem. If you request the special arrival service, you’ll be greeted by a roaring fire, candles softly flickering and a super-sized, petal strewn bubble bath. It’s hardly surprising that there have been a number of marriage proposals at Heald Country House Retreats! Quite a few celebrity guests have visited too, no doubt attracted by the privacy and attention to detail.
With plenty of country walks on your doorstep, you’re all set up for a romantic getaway. If you can tear yourself away for a day of sightseeing or shopping, the cities of Chester, Shrewsbury, Liverpool and Manchester are less than an hour away.
Having joined forces with the Cheshire Spa of the Year, Heald Country House Retreats offers on-site beauty treatments and massages, which can be enjoyed in the privacy of your barn in front of a roaring fire. Activity breaks can also be arranged – from horse riding and cookery classes to craft workshops – making the venue a perfect option for a sophisticated hen party or girlie weekend.
The Old Parlour sleeps four people – two in the master bedroom, which has a king-sized bed, and two more in a double bedroom downstairs. There’s a spacious wet room tiled in marble and a large, open plan lounge, dining area and fully-equipped kitchen, complete with coffee machine, dishwasher, mini freezer, fridge, cooker and hob. The secluded, rustic courtyard garden has a table and chairs for al fresco dining, a barbecue and chiminea.
The Garden Room sleeps three people. The master bedroom contains nothing but a king-sized bed beneath two huge skylights so that you can gaze at the stars as you drift off to sleep. There’s also a single day bed, if required. The bathroom features a stunning super-sized copper bath, as well as a large, walk-in shower. Although the Garden Room doesn’t have a kitchen, its private dining area is equipped with a bread-warming oven, kettle, toaster and coffee machine. It has a private garden area complete with sun loungers, a fire pit and a table and chairs.
The Nest is a bijou, boutique ‘barnlette’ that’s just perfect for two. The king-sized, mezzanine bedroom offers guests a view of the stars through the skylight above the bed. Downstairs there’s a small but perfectly formed open plan living area, complete with kitchen, breakfast bar and a sitting area with a sofa bed. Double French doors open out onto a lovely little suntrap of a courtyard, where there’s a daybed with stylish outdoor cushions for guests to lounge on, as well as a table, chairs, candle lanterns, a barbecue and a chimnea. The sleek shower room is also located on the ground floor.
All three barns have a cosy yet contemporary look, which gives more than a nod to classic French country style thanks to the the soft Farrow and Ball shades on the wall and the elegant furnishings.
