Launceston Farm, a working organic beef farm in the heart of the idyllic Tarrant Valley, has all the ingredients for the perfect self-catering break. With three property options to choose from, there is plenty of flexibility as you can either rent the properties individually – sleeping 2 to 12 – or as a group sleeping up to 16. All three properties are dog friendly and family friendly, making Launceston Farm an ideal location for family holidays, get togethers and celebrations. Catering can be organised to suit your party’s requirements; from “heat and eat” meals on arrival to fully waitered three course meals, fabulous feasts and sharing platters.
Launceston Farm itself, is spread over 2,000 acres of the Cranborne Chase, an area of outstanding natural beauty and is home to over 500 beef cattle. The farm is organic; the Mason family work alongside nature, enhancing and preserving habitats for plant and wildlife to ensure a healthy, productive environment for their crops and livestock.
Within easy reach of the M3 and A303, Launceston Farm is an ideal base for exploring Dorset and Wiltshire. Shop for boutique fashion, antiques and country inspired home ware in nearby Salisbury, Shaftesbury and Sherborne, sample treats from delis and farm shops stuffed with local delights or head for the sea; Poole Harbour and the World Heritage Jurassic Coast are just half an hour away.
Launceston Farmhouse is an elegant Grade II-listed Georgian House which comfortably sleeps 12 in six ensuite bedrooms making it perfect for extended family groups and large parties. There are also two self-catering cottages which both sleep 2; The Bothy, a self-contained ground floor level apartment attached to the farmhouse and Flint, a two-storey cottage in a converted stable opposite the farmhouse.
All three properties offer a luxurious standard of accommodation complete with all the modern conveniences one would expect. Guests can also make use of the extensive on-site facilities which include a 12m indoor heated swimming pool and sauna, sure to provide a source of entertainment whatever the weather. The extensive gardens and play orchard with enclosed children’s play area including sand pit, mud kitchen and a willow Tipi provides a haven for children of all ages. There is also a family room with games, toys and books.

The six en suite double bedrooms in the main farmhouse have a luxurious and romantic feel. Each has its own unique features, from roll top baths and sumptuous beds to beautifully restored antique furniture. Modern conveniences include 32″ Smart TV’s in all rooms along with a Sonos Sound System. The rooms boast views – through the huge sash windows – of the rolling downlands and enchanting walled garden.
The romantic self-catering cottages – The Bothy and Flint – each sleep two people and have their own private walled courtyards, with wood-fired BBQs and an outdoor bateau bath – nothing beats a long soak under the stars! The kitchens are fully equipped and the larder stocked with the basics for breakfast on your first morning. You can order a two-course farmhouse supper to eat-in (48 hours notice) or take a five minute stroll down to the village pub. Bed linen and towels, two baskets of wood for the wood burner and BBQ along with Wifi internet access are all included. A welcome pack stuffed with information on local attractions and services is also included as well as access to Sarah – owner and font of all local knowledge!
The Bothy and Flint each sleep two people and costs £350 for a three night stay (Monday to Thursday or Friday to Monday), or £600 for a 7 night stay (Friday to Friday). Dogs are welcome for an additional £25. Babes and young toddlers aged 0-2 (sleeping in a travel cot) can be provided for with the use of a high chair, stair gate and travel cot.
The Farmhouse which sleeps eight – twelve people, is available for short breaks. A three night weekend stay (Friday-Monday) is the same cost as a three to four night midweek stay (Monday-Friday). Week long stays are Friday to Friday. Please note during the high season (26th May to 8th September) the Farmhouse & the Bothy are only available as one unit sleeping 14 in total.
