Nestled in the picturesque setting of Waterside, Knaresborough, Teardrop Cottage overlooks the river Nidd, and boasts stunning views of the nearby castle ruins and the elegant Victorian stone viaduct. It’s just a short walk away from the centre of the historic market town of Knaresborough, with its eclectic mix of restaurants, shops and fine old pubs. The nearby railway station provides quick and easy access to the spa town of Harrogate and its exhibition centre, which is just three miles away, as well as the bustling cities of York and Leeds.
Open all year round, Teardrop Cottage offers high quality bed and breakfast accommodation in a location that makes a great base for exploring all that Yorkshire has to offer, including the Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors National Parks, and the spectacular coastline.
The cottage’s cosy and charming, eclectic, shabby chic-style interior makes it a real home from home yet the owner, Michael Collingwood, hasn’t scrimped on the finishing touches and luxuries that one would expect of boutique-style accommodation. The emphasis is very much on offering guests all the comforts of home – and more – in a magical and relaxing riverside location. Teardrop Cottage even has its own online gift shop, which can be found on its website, where guests can buy a range of branded goods, from T-shirts to Teddy Bears, to remind them of their stay.
In 2014, the Teardrop Cottage team, together with business partners, launched their first Vintage and Virgin retail store in Knaresborough. Vintage and Virgin has been offering an interior design service to clients for several years, sourcing bespoke fabrics and wall coverings; made-to-measure curtains and blinds; and offering comprehensive re-upholstery and decorating services. In the new store you can buy antique furniture, pure essential oil candles, soft furnishings, fresh flowers, and potted house plants and herbs. It also specialises in English country-style wedding flowers to order. Be sure to call in!
