Boutique & Breakfast

Located in a former fishing village on the Rame Peninsula, Westcroft is the ideal spot for those looking for a slice of the unspoilt Cornwall that visitors dream of but rarely find. Often referred to as the forgotten corner of the county, the peninsula is an area of outstanding natural beauty boasting secluded beaches; fantastic walks and spectacular scenery.

Your hosts, Sarah and Dylan McLees-Taylor, have created a welcoming and soothing place to escape to, and their attention to detail ensures your stay will be a memorable one.

Westcroft is just 20 metres from the beach and situated on The South West Coast Path, giving guests easy access to the great walks on their doorstep. There are five pubs in the village and the nearest one has unbeatable sea views, and serves good food and real ales.

Westcroft Gallery, which showcases the work of some of the peninsula’s finest artists, is situated behind the guest house in a converted boat shed. Sarah and Dylan can arrange a variety of additional services, including therapeutic massage and reflexology by a qualified therapist; baby-sitting and art classes. Ask for details when booking your accommodation.

This award-winning guest house was once a Georgian coaching inn and dates back to 1760. Its handsome features and period character have been lovingly preserved and restored, and its interior has been given a stylish, contemporary makeover to create accommodation with plenty of luxurious finishing touches and bags of quirky character.

During the last four years Westcroft has picked up a stack of awards and rave reviews, including a place in Tatler magazine’s ‘101 best places to stay’ guide for 2011.

There are four gorgeous double rooms to choose from; they each have their own unique look and feel, but echo the cosy, eclectic, style of the property as a whole. Plush bed linen; plump pillows; quality toiletries; free, wireless internet access; iPod docking stations; flat-screen televisions and under-floor heating in the shower/bathrooms are among the luxurious finishing touches.

The Four Poster Package gives guests the opportunity to use the entire first floor of the property and includes a four-poster double bedroom, and sole use of the adjacent walk-in shower room and a separate lounge with glorious sea views.

The Penlee Room is a tranquil space featuring unique, hand-painted wallpaper by international muralist Gez Taylor. The en suite bathroom has a claw-foot bath and marble floor. The large brass double bed can be reconfigured into two twin beds.

The Clocktower Suite covers the entire top floor of the property and is an indulgent, romantic space. There’s a French antique double bed, as well as a day bed that can be used a sofa or to accommodate a little one. There’s a large, en suite bathroom with a roll top bath and Cornish slate floor.

During August, the entire property is let on a week-by-week basis to parties and family groups of up to eight people. Guests who opt to rent the whole house have use of four double bedrooms, all with en suite bath or shower rooms; two lounge areas; the kitchen and the dining room.

Prices range from £95 to £140 per night. Contact the owners to discuss the option of renting the whole property during August.

Breakfast is served in the cosy dining room at a time to suit guests and the menu features locally-sourced, organic ingredients. Dinner can also be provided.
