East Hillerton House is a charming country boutique bed and breakfast in Devon, enjoying the most stunning views of Dartmoor and its Tors just six miles away.
Mid Devon is the perfect location to explore all this wonderfully diverse county has to offer. At its heart, situated between the two great National Parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor, the dramatic North Coast and picturesque Southern Coastline, it is a perfect place to stay and explore Devon. Mid Devon is known for its rolling hills, hidden woodlands, rivers and verdant valleys, teeming with wildlife, making it an ideal area for walking holidays and wildlife spotting.
The local village of Spreyton is rural and quaint, best known for its relation to the tale of ‘Old Uncle Tom Cobley and all’, it holds a lot of character and charm. It has a pub, a very quaint village shop and a garage.
Exeter is easily reached and has a wide variety of shops, restaurants and, of course, its historic Cathedral. Both north and south coasts are also easily accessible and offer very different characteristics. Dartmoor is only six miles away. There are a number of National Trust properties in the area, most notably Castle Drogo and Arlington Court. The wonderful RHS gardens at Rosemoor are certainly worth a visit, as is the Dartington Crystal Factory, which are both based in Great Torrington. Golf, fishing and riding are all available in the area, and cycle hire can be arranged on the Tarka Trail at various locations.
Surrounded by vast countryside in a tranquil location, East Hillerton House is a superb Devon Boutique B&B, where you can make everlasting memories with your loved ones and enjoy a wonderful rural escape.
Superbly situated to explore Devon, then retreat back to the sanctuary of the countryside, away from it all. Enjoy the peace and quiet, relax and unwind; listen to and watch the array of wild birds and animals, on most days deer can be seen in the meadows.
Dartmoor’s rugged beauty, and that of the Greater Dartmoor area around it, inspired Conan Doyle’s The Hound of the Baskervilles, and has been used as the backdrop for Hollywood blockbusters. With 368 square miles to explore, you can walk for miles without seeing another soul or visit some of the Devon attractions to be found on the moors. Feeling energetic? Then take a stroll and encounter the herds of pure-breed Dartmoor ponies that wander the wilds. And when you need a little sustenance, be sure to check out the hospitality of the moorland pubs and restaurants. Widecombe-on-the-Moor is definitely worth a visit.
East Hillerton House is nestled in the heart of Mid Devon; rural yet accessible, only six miles from the A30, which provides great access to the M5 or further South to Cornwall.
When Nicola Blandin moved to the property with her husband in 2013 it was rural bliss they were seeking and they fell in love with the area and with Devon. They took on East Hillerton House as a project and have enjoyed making it a warm and welcoming place; a rural retreat with modern facilities, and with very little light pollution some amazing night skies can be enjoyed too.
The previous owner told them that they would find the silence deafening!! He was right. Nicola and Kerry think it is perfectly peaceful but too good to keep to themselves; offering boutique bed and breakfast so they can share their little piece of Devon heaven with you!
