As the name suggests, Highcliffe House occupies a lofty, cliff-top position above the twin towns of Lynton and Lynmouth. It boasts jaw-dropping view across Lynmouth Bay and on a clear day, along the south Wales coast all the way from Swansea to the outskirts of Cardiff. There are sea views from every room and you may just struggle to tear yourself away from the beautiful, ever changing vistas beyond.
Located within the Exmoor National Park, this 5 star boutique B&B is surrounded by rugged countryside and a short hop from some of North Devon’s most magnificent beaches. Locally, you can enjoy everything from horse riding and falconry to wildlife safaris and a steam train ride along the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway.
An adults-only venue, Highcliffe House is the perfect place for a romantic getaway or for those wanting some serious rest and relaxation. The owners, Neal and Jason, do their utmost to make your stay memorable for all the right reasons, particularly if you’re celebrating a special occasion. Their B&B is licensed, so you can enjoy drinks in the lounge or your room as you soak up the scenery. You can also pre-order bottles of wine or champagne ready for your arrival.
Lynton is a popular walkers paradise, with plenty of walks nearby for guests to explore the local area whilst breathing in the fresh coastal air. Local notable attractions include the Cliff Railway, Valley of Rocks and Watersmeet.
Highcliffe House is an award-winning Boutique B&B with a 5 Star accreditation awarded by the AA in April 2018. Further accolades include: TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence awarded for four years running, Gold Winner of Devon’s Best Bed and Breakfast 2018 and most recently, Gold Winner Best Bed and Breakfast in the South West 2019 (South West England Tourism Awards 2018-2019).
Highcliffe House was built around 1880 by the highly regarded Victorian architect and engineer Bob Jones, who also built Lynton Town Hall and the famous water-powered Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway, which remains a popular visitor attraction. Originally used as a gentleman’s summer residence, it enjoys a commanding position within walking distance of the town.
The dining room is one of the property’s best features with amazing panoramic views that can be enjoyed whilst tucking into the delicious breakfast served by Neal and Jason. A garden terrace has recently been created for guests to enjoy drinks, a delicious cream tea or as a haven to just relax with a good book. The terrace enjoys the same stunning panoramic views as the dining room, with guests being able to see over Lynton to Foreland point and further out to the South coast of Wales. All guests receive a complimentary Devon Cream Tea on arrival and the garden terrace is the perfect place to indulge in this local treat whilst taking in the amazing views.
Free, wireless internet access is provided, and there’s also plenty of free, secure, on-site parking.
