The Post House luxury self catering accommodation sleeps up to 10 guests, in a 400-year-old home in the picturesque village of Chewton Mendip, deep in the Somerset countryside.
This Grade II listed building is constructed from the delightful, honey-coloured stone that’s so characteristic of the area and the interior has been lovingly restored in an elegant, rustic French style; it wouldn’t look out of place in Provence! Located just five miles from the Cathedral City of Wells and 20 minutes from Bath, it’s an enchanting place to enjoy a self-catering holiday.
It is a truly fabulous place to enjoy a family holiday or a get together with friends. The Dining Hall is a wonderful space to enjoy a dinner party. You can even hire in a chef to save you the work!
The lovely village of Chewton Mendip is well placed for those wishing to visit the many fascinating and colourful places of interest in Somerset and the West Country. Bath, Wells, Bristol, Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, Glastonbury, Longleat and Bristol Airport are all less than a 25-minute drive away. Standing on the edge of the Mendip Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there are many well-trodden walking routes nearby and a wide variety of great pubs in the area.
The entire property is decorated to an exceptionally high standard in a charming French country-style that suits the look and feel of this ancient stone house perfectly.
The Old Bakery is a cottage adjoining The Post House that offers generously proportioned self-catering accommodation for two. It can also be booked along with the two bedrooms in The Post House by larger groups of family or friends who want both properties to themselves.
The Old Bakery has its own secluded Mediterranean-style courtyard for guests to enjoy. The outdoor space mirrors the rustic French style of the interior, which is so beautifully furnished and styled that it looks like it has jumped straight from the pages of an interior design magazine. In fact, The Post House and The Old Bakery have featured in a number of top magazines, including House Beautiful, Traditional Homes and Interiors and BBC Homes and Antiques. Originally the village Bakery, it was sensitively converted into self-catering accommodation in 2009.
The Post House has four beautiful double/twin bedrooms, with three bathrooms (including a free standing, roll top bath and a square bath). There is a beautiful Dining Hall (formally the village bakery) and a large Sitting Room with open fire and Sky TV! A morning room with open fire, a fully equipped kitchen and a private, enclosed, Mediterranean style Courtyard.
The property is beautifully decorated in hues of pales and greys and gives the feeling of being in Provence! Carefully chosen painted and french country furniture and lime washed walls add to the ambience.
Each room has a flat-screen television, a hairdryer, quality toiletries, luxury Egyptian cotton bed linen and big fluffy bath towels, dressing gowns and slippers.
