Friend of Boutique and Breakfast, Nicola Brooke, recently headed to Teardrop Cottage in the pretty North Yorkshire market town of Knaresborough for a short break. Nicola won her stay in a charity auction – the lot was jointly donated by Boutique and Breakfast and Teardrop Cottage.
Nestled in the picturesque setting of Waterside, Knaresborough, Teardrop Cottage overlooks the river Nidd, and boasts stunning views of the nearby castle ruins and the elegant Victorian stone viaduct. It’s just a short walk away from the town centre’s eclectic mix of restaurants, shops and fine old pubs. Each of the four delightfully decorated rooms has access to the roof terrace, where guests can sit back, relax and enjoy stunning views. The double room that Nicola stayed in has a king-sized bed and its own private courtyard garden.
Nicola said: “We were travelling with our 13-month-old, and we thought the beautiful and quiet location was an ideal base as it’s not located on a busy road.
“I loved the outside areas, which were nice to relax in after the baby had gone to bed. My husband was delighted by the delicious breakfast the next morning and we were both still full by lunch time!”
She added: “We found a nice café by the riverside called The Black Mulberry, which serves very nice sandwiches and cakes.
“We visited the nearby castle and enjoyed the views with an ice cream from the Brymor ice cream parlour on the corner of Castlegate.
“We had a walk along the river and came across The House in the Rock, also known as Fort Montague, which is now, unfortunately, closed to the public. Just below is a small chapel, also carved out of the rock, called The Chapel of our Lady of the Crag.”
Thank you Nicola for sharing details of your visit with Boutique and Breakfast, we’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay.
