Probably one of the most spectacular, sought after and privileged places to stay in the Highlands of Scotland, Point Clair is a stunning six bedroomed country house holiday retreat on the shores of Loch Ness.
Situated on the western shores of the loch between the villages of Fort Augustus and Invermoriston, Point Clair House occupies its very own peninsula extending out into Loch Ness, affording complete exclusivity and privacy with panoramic views for guests to enjoy at their own pace. The house is in an elevated position, surrounded by 4 acres of gardens and wooded grounds, which lead down to rocky outcrops and a private shingle beach giving direct access to the famous loch. Uninterrupted views from many of the rooms and from the promontory take in Fort Augustus Abbey, the lower slopes of the Monadhliath Mountains across the water, and northwards up to Drumnadrochit, where you will find the Loch Ness Visitor Centre.
No trip to Scotland is complete without exploring the magic of Loch Ness and of course, people will always spend some of their time, a few moments, hours, even days, trying to spot the elusive monster. At Point Clair the owners have anticipated this, and if you can tear yourself away from the fun of the fully kitted out Cinema and Games Rooms, you will find binoculars dotted around the house for you to partake in the popular local pastime of ‘Nessie-spotting.’
Outdoors, this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is a haven for wildlife. There are many way-marked walks and cycle trails, horse-riding, kayaking and boat cruises; ways to take in the phenomenal scenery and native wildlife you are perhaps more likely to see. Regular sightings of seals basking in the loch, otters, red squirrels, deer drinking from the water’s edge and the occasional white-tailed eagle will be sure to leave you awe-struck.

This large country house in a glorious position overlooking Loch Ness, was built in the 1930’s by a ship’s captain and the nautical influence is apparent in its design. The bow ended front of the property resembles the bridge of a ship and the wraparound windows offer far-reaching panoramic views across the loch. Extended over the years, Point Clair was renovated in 2013 to provide well laid out, comfortable accommodation, kitted out with everything you could possible want to keep the kids and adults entertained, this six-bedroomed, spacious holiday rental, couldn’t be better for families or friends to stowaway in.
The secluded grounds extend to approximately 4 acres and are approached from the public road through wrought iron electric gates, across a cattle grid and down a lengthy driveway to a turning circle and parking area in front of the house. The formal gardens have been carefully manicured, the framework of flagstone paths and avenues of trees provide an ideal setting for meandering walks. Inviting paths lead through the wooded grounds to hidden viewpoints and to the private shingle beach where you will find a sheltered mooring, the perfect launch point for kayaks and dinghies. From the north east of the house a tree canopied, stepped pathway leads down to the loch side and natural harbour.
There really is everything you need at Point Clair for a fantastic vacation, just pick up your groceries on the drive in and you can enjoy a wonderful, relaxing holiday in your own little piece of paradise.
