Towcester has a long and illustrious history that stretches all the way back to Roman times, with the town’s name itself meaning ‘Camp on the river Tove in Latin. Nestled in the southern half of Northamptonshire, both Milton Keynes and Oxford are in easy reach. A typically English town, the high street ensures an afternoon of happy browsing with St Lawrence’s Church acting as the town’s centrepiece. Towcester is very famous for its racecourse, which was originally part of the Easton Neston estate to the east of the town and the town and course plays host to many of the key dates on the British horse racing calendar.
