Spend your days immersed in the flavours of Italy and enjoy specially curated experiences and tastings. With warmth and hospitality Tony and Danielle welcome you into their Italian home for a unique, all-inclusive curated package stay in Umbria, Italy.
Casa Miedi is a nearly 300 year old stone farmhouse, lovingly restored, with the old outbuildings converted to provide 3 charming guest bedrooms. The kitchen is the heart of the house where food and wine are prepared and tasted, guests can socialise and join in with Danielle’s ‘hands on cooking classes’.
Tony and Danielle would like you to experience all that the area has to offer and will organise everything for you including: olive and wine tours and tastings, visits to local artisans and activities such as truffle hunting and taking part in the olive harvest (seasonal activities based on availability).
The location is quietly remote, tucked away in the wooded hills above Minima valley in the Umbrian/Tuscan borderlands, but only a short drive to many of the region’s historic towns and villages: Assisi, Perugia, Deruta, Lake Trasimeno and Cortona, to name a few. Cobbled streets and weekly markets just ripe for exploring! Florence is a 1 hour train journey away.
Back at Casa Miedi, you will be well and truly looked after, this is an all inclusive stay after all, and with a very personal touch, Tony and Danielle want you to feel like part of the family. Danielle is a trained chef and pastry chef and has a passion for simple, family-style cooking. From her organic garden to the dining table, you will enjoy a menu reflective of the season using home grown and locally sourced ingredients. Tony knows a thing or two about wine and you can delight in testing his expertise in the complimentary wines, prosecco and cocktails that freely flow during your stay!
Time to yourself can be spent relaxing by the pool or enjoying lovely walks from the house to the nearby village with its medieval watch towers, or meandering the surrounding forest and olive groves.
Your passionate hosts want to share Casa Miedi with you and an enticing, immersive vacation awaits. Discover people and food deeply rooted in history and tradition, enjoy the authenticity and peacefulness of the centuries old, restored farmhouse and experience the “green heart of Italy” that is Umbria.
Nestled in the Minima Valley in Umbria sits Tony and Danielle’s beloved farmhouse, Casa Miedi. It has been a part of life in the area for over 300 years. In the garden surrounding the farmhouse are many fruit and nut trees that provide the jams and fruits for the various pastries that are served at Casa Miedi. There is also a completely organic garden, and guests can enjoy being a part of the process from garden to the table in the cooking classes offered. The ethos here is to be as self-sufficient as possible and to support local producers and help the economy of the region.
A favourite feature of the property is the original forno al legna, wood oven, that was once used by families to bake their weekly bread when they couldn’t get to the village. Tony and Danielle have continued on with the tradition and fire up the forno to make bread weekly, and of course pizza for their guests.
They open their home to you and provide you with a vacation experience that offers unique insight into their life in Umbria.
Each of the 3 lovely guest rooms has been renovated to create a relaxing space with modern amenities while still maintaining the history of the farmhouse and its outbuildings.
Many of the original features of the outbuildings, which provide the guest rooms, have been highlighted to celebrate and embrace the original use as a stable or piggery. You can find bespoke touches in each room to enjoy the history that surrounds you.
