Number One, St. Luke’s is as far removed from the outdated and stereotypical image of a seaside B&B as it’s possible to get; everything about this pint-sized Blackpool bolt-hole is sleek, stylish and effortlessly slick.

In fact, it’s so slick that Visit Britain named it the Best B&B in Britain a couple of years ago, and it also has a coveted five-star gold rating.

Quietly located on Blackpool’s South Shore, Number One is the perfect place for a hassle-free stay in this bustling seaside resort.  It’s just a four-minute walk to the Promenade and Blackpool Pleasure Beach, and a short tram ride to Sandcastle Waterpark and Blackpool’s iconic Tower, not to mention the nearby Circus, the Blackpool Eye, Blackpool Dungeon, the newly-refurbished Madame Tussaud’s and the Sealife Centre. At Number One, all of the town’s attractions are literally on your doorstep.

If you want to spread your wings and venture a little further afield, it’s only a 40-minute drive to Manchester, Liverpool and the beautiful Lake District. If you enjoy golf, then the nearby Fylde Coast – also known as England’s Golf Coast – boasts eight fabulous golf courses all within a six-mile radius of one another. The famous Royal Lytham and St Anne’s Golf Course, home of the Men’s Open Golf 2012, is also just a 15-minute drive down the road.

Owned by Mark and Claire Smith, Number One is a handsome, detached, period home standing in its own large gardens, complete with putting green, hot tub and ample private parking. It’s ideal for business travellers who are weary of impersonal hotel rooms, as well as couples seeking a romantic break in modern and friendly surroundings.

Number One St Luke’s also has a strong environmental ethos and has recently installed a POD Point Electric Vehicle Charging Point at the property. Mark and Claire specifically chose a POD with a universal socket meaning they are now able to offer guests a free and easy charging service whatever brand or model of electric vehicle they possess.

Great thought has gone into decorating and furnishing the three double guest rooms in a modern, yet cosy and comfortable, style. Each room has a slightly different look, but they all feature a huge, king-sized bed dressed in Egyptian cotton linen and Siberian goosedown pillows.

Pretty much every possible high-tech convenience has been thought of – each room has a 42-inch plasma television; a DVD player; a CD player; a Sony PlayStation2; free, wireless internet access; remote-controlled lighting; and a refreshment tray. The gorgeous, modern en suite bathrooms each have a free-standing whirlpool bath; a 17-inch LCD television; a power shower and a built-in music system.

Children over the age of four years are welcome. Number One is a non-smoking B&B.

Room rates range from £75 per night (single occupancy, midweek) to between £120 and £130 per night for double occupancy. Special rates are available for those who book five nights or more.

Number One serves a varied breakfast menu made using locally-sourced ingredients, wherever possible.

Guests can opt to have a Continental-style breakfast of fruit and pastries delivered to their room or venture down to the smart dining room, where they can choose from a traditional full English or sample Number One’s popular special – a seasonal, three-course breakfast packed with wholesome, tasty treats. Number One has received an award from Visit Britain for the quality of its breakfast offering.
